More than 50 years in the game of soccer as a player and coach, Charlie Morgan has been RHSC’s Executive Director since 2020.
Playing Career
- Grew up in Atlanta, played soccer at South Dekalb YMCA.Also played for the Dekalb Youth Soccer Association, the American Youth Soccer Association and Datagraphic’s Soccer Club.
- Won multiple regional and state cups while playing for Team Atlanta and Datagraphic.
- Played with the U19 Datagraphic’s ADSL team that played in the National Amateur Cup Finals and the Open Cup Finals.
- Went to Southwest Dekalb High School, winning two state championships in 1979 and 1980.
- Played two years (full scholarship) for Georgia State University.
- Played two years (full scholarship) for Clemson University. Served as team captain and won NCAA National Championship in 1984.
- Named All-ACC team (2 years), NCAA All South Team (2 years) while at Clemson.
- Played South Regional Select Team (4 years), played three National Sports Festivals.
- Represented the U.S. at World University Games in Japan in 1985.Played professional for teams in Cleveland, Jacksonville, Atlanta, and Kansas City.
Coaching Career
- Coach for more than 26 years.
- College coach at Georgia State University and Clemson University.
- Professional coach for Atlanta Magic, Atlanta Ruckus, Richmond Kickers, Virginia Beach Mariners
- High school coach at Frederica Academy, where they won six girls and five boy state championships
- Georgia ODP/South Region ODP 15 years and current Head Coach for South Region 05 Boys
- ODP Team and 05 ODP National Team
- Coached players that have played on U.S. National teams (that have won FIFA World Cups), MLS, Herman Award Winner (College Soccer Player of the Year) and many that have played in college.
